What is MOXI Summer Camp?

MOXI Camps aim to spark curiosity and ignite learning through hands-on activities in our Exploration Lab, Innovation Workshop and across MOXI’s exhibit tracks. Each camp also includes off-site excursions within walking distance of MOXI. These off-site excursions will ensure that your child is kept active and provide opportunities for your child to observe and conduct experiments outside the museum.

What does my child need for camp?

Your child should bring the following items to MOXI camp:

  • Comfortable clothes that they can move around in and get dirty will allow your
    camper to explore at their full capacity.
  • Closed toed shoes so they can comfortably walk to nearby locations are
  • Lunch
  • Snack
  • A backpack to carry their belongings.
  • Full water bottle
  • Sunscreen

*Please write your child’s name on their belongings and avoid bringing anything of value to camp.

What is your drop-off/pick-up policy?

On the first day of camp we will ask you to confirm your contact information and approved pick-up person(s). All campers must be signed out every day of camp by either a parent or the assigned adult responsible for pick-up. Please inform your pick-up person(s) to bring identification with them each day they come to camp so they can pick up your child.

Late pick-up policy

  • First occurrence: warning
  • Second occurrence: $1/minute charge for each minute late after 15 minutes

Extended Day option
For an additional fee of $100, campers can arrive as early as 8:00 AM and be picked-up as late as 5:00 PM daily

What if my child needs medication and/or has allergies?

MOXI staff is not allowed to administer any medication. If a camper needs medication, it must be administered by a parent/guardian or the camper themselves. MOXI staff can hold and/or store medication until needed by the camper.

What happens if there are disciplinary issues?

If a discipline issue occurs, we will take the child aside and try to resolve the issue. If this does not resolve the issue, we will contact the parent. If this does not resolve the issue or discipline issues become a common occurrence, we may ask the parent to come and remove the child from camp.

What do you do if a child is ill?

If your camper is sick, has any known exposure to COVID-19, is waiting on a COVID-19 test result, or has otherwise been told to self-isolate/quarantine/stay home by a medical professional or based on county/state/CDC health guidance, do not send them to camp. If your camper is unable to attend due to illness or implications of COVID-19, we will offer a full or pro-rated refund depending on the situation. If a camper becomes ill at camp, we will call parents to come and pick them up.

What do you do if a child is injured?

If a child becomes injured, MOXI Education will contact the parent or guardian. For significant injury or other conditions that require immediate medical attention, we will call 911 and/or take the child to Cottage Hospital and contact the participant’s parent or guardian. Medical personnel will be provided with relevant information, such as allergies, as provided on the first day of camp.

How do I leave an emergency message concerning my child?

What are MOXI’s COVID-19 protocols for camps?

In accordance with state and CDC guidelines (March 2022), MOXI is modifying the Summer Camp experience for the safety of all campers and staff. These protocols include:
– Vaccination requirements for all camp staff + volunteers
– Daily COVID symptom screenings for all campers + staff
– Frequent handwashing breaks between activities
– Limiting shared materials by separating tools and materials for each camper
– Maintaining physical distancing in accordance with state + CDC guidelines
– Daily sanitizing of surfaces and high touch points

What happens if a camper or staff exhibits COVID-19 symptoms?

If a camper or staff exhibits any symptoms of COVID-19 before the start of a camp day, they must remain at home until they are symptom free for 5 days or are symptom free and can show proof of a “negative” COVID-19 test result. If a camper or staff member exhibits any symptoms of COVID-19 during the camp day, the individual will be escorted to MOXI’s Innovation Workshop Cozy Corner and kept in isolation until a parent or guardian can pick them up. Campers and staff must be tested and report back to MOXI. If a COVID-19 test is reported positive, camp will be shut down and pro-rated refunds would be offered.
