Volt Program.

Come be part of the teen volunteer team that sparks curiosity and ignites learning alongside our visitors here at MOXI. Whether it is engaging guests at exhibits, tinkering in the Innovation Workshop, or guiding field trip exploration, MOXI volunteers are one of our most valuable resources as we both engage and serve our community through interactive experiences in science and creativity. Learn, play, create, build, and share in the excitement.

The Volt program is a free 9-month teen volunteer opportunity that provides participants with on-the-floor museum work experience coupled with monthly professional development training sessions. Not ready for a 9-month commitment? Click here for information on all of our teen volunteer options.

Our monthly Volt meetings are a chance to check in with your peers and learn valuable skills. Training topics range from workplace professionalism (e.g. resume writing, networking, and email etiquette) to more MOXI-specific fun stuff (e.g. 3D printing and museum behind-the-scenes).

MOXI Volts have potential! And we seek to maximize that potential.

Requirements:
  • Attend required monthly Volt team meeting (2 hours)
  • Commit to a minimum of 10 volunteer hours per month at MOXI or at MOXI-sanctioned events (total of 100 hours of community service)
  • Participate in developing and implementing a Volt community project
  • Be motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable participants
  • Eager to work with the public.
  • Entering grades 9-12 in fall
