Eliot Spaulding is a local, female visual artist with a focus on sustainability, craft, and community. Her interdisciplinary work seeks to engage the public by merging the worlds of art and science through participatory public art. Deriving inspiration from the folk and decorative arts, her practice utilizes familiar historical craft techniques as a visual language to explore critical environmental and social quandaries of our time. Eliot takes weekly visits to the ocean where she studies the geology, documents findings, and collects washed up waste material for future works.
