Cancellation & Transfer Policy
Cancellations: All requests to cancel participation in a camp must be made in writing to camps@moxi.org. Cancellations requested up to one month prior to the camp start date will receive a 90% refund. Cancellations requested up to 2 weeks before the camp start date will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations requested less than 2 weeks before the camp start date are not eligible for a refund.
Transfers: MOXI camp registrations are not eligible for transfer to friends or family as MOXI maintains an active Camp new availability notification list. All cancellations are subject to the above cancellation policy, and new registrants must sign up via MOXI’s website. Transfer of camp weeks between the same participant are subject to a 10% administrative fee if space is still available; if a camp is sold out, participants must cancel their registration and ask to be added to the waitlist for the week they are interested in.
Waitlist Policy
MOXI camps are quite popular and tend to sell out quickly. MOXI does not maintain a traditional waitlist. Instead, interested participants are encouraged to sign up for our notification list. When a camp spot opens, the Camps team will reach out to all individuals on the list via email notifying them that a seat has been released on our website.
Registration will occur on a first -come, first- served basis via our online registration system; signing up for our waitlist does not guarantee you a spot in our program.
Special Needs
MOXI strives to create an inclusive learning environment that welcomes students of all abilities. Since each camper is different and has different needs, we encourage you to reach out if you have any specific questions, concerns, or accommodations.
What if my child needs medication and/or has allergies?
MOXI staff is not allowed to administer any medication. If a camper needs medication, it must be administered by a parent/guardian or the camper themselves. MOXI staff can hold and/or store medication until needed by the camper. Medication will be returned to the parent, guardian, or caregiver at the end of the camp day/week.
Do let MOXI staff know if your camper has an allergy. Please note we may not be able to fully eliminate all potential allergens.
What do you do if a child is ill?
If your camper is sick, has any known exposure to COVID-19, is waiting on a COVID-19 test result, or has otherwise been told to self-isolate/quarantine/stay home by a medical professional or based on county/state/CDC health guidance, do not send them to camp. If your camper is unable to attend due to illness or implications of COVID-19, we will offer a full or pro-rated refund depending on the situation. If a camper becomes ill at camp, we will call parents to come and pick them up.
What do you do if a child is injured?
If a child becomes injured, MOXI Education will contact the parent or guardian. For significant injury or other conditions that require immediate medical attention, we will call 911 and/or take the child to Cottage Hospital and contact the participant’s parent or guardian. Medical personnel will be provided with relevant information, such as allergies, as provided on the first day of camp.
How do I leave an emergency message concerning my child?
Please call the front desk at 805.770.5000 and a staff member will deliver your message to the appropriate person. If you have any specific questions regarding the camp, please email camps@moxi.org
What does lunch look like for MOXI camps?
Lunch takes place off-site every day at a local park (Ambassador Park and Chase Palm Park) and at the beach near the Santa Barbara Wharf.
Campers are escorted from the museum to the park by volunteers and CPR-certified Camp Counselors equipped with emergency contact information, a first aid kit, radios, and extra supplies.
Campers are encouraged to bring their lunch, water, and sunscreen with them every day and are invited to play a number of different games and activities.
