Membership FAQ.

MOXI Membership cards are digital! We hope you enjoy the convenience offered by a digital card, and it helps us stay green by reduce the use of paper and shipping.

The most commonly asked questions about your new Membership, digital cards, and benefits are at the top of this list.

How do we check in?

At least one adult named Member must be present during each visit to the Museum. The listed Member must provide a valid form of photo ID such as a driver’s license each time they check in.

Members are not required to make a reservation prior to visiting the Museum.

I joined online but I still haven’t received my Membership card, what can I do?

You are always welcome to visit MOXI and show a valid photo ID to receive your free Member admission. You can request a new digital card at MOXI, or by contacting us at members@moxi.org or 805.770.5000 ext. 118.

Can someone borrow my card?

Memberships are non-transferable and non-refundable.

If you’d like to add someone to your Membership, you can upgrade at any time.

Can I bring my kid's friends?

Children listed on the Membership must be of the same household, however Memberships starting at the Explorer Level allow you to bring additional guests per visit.

If I'm a member, do I still have to pay for field trips or birthday parties?

Beginning at the Family Level, Members receive discounts for MOXI Birthday Parties. Due to additional programming and expenses related to field trips, Membership benefits cannot be used for such visits.

Will my additional named adults (caregivers/grandparents, etc.) need to show ID?

Caregivers listed on a Membership must present a valid photo ID when redeeming Membership benefits.

What about children age 18?

Adult children of Members or other adults over the age of 18 may not be substituted or listed as children.

Can I drop my kids off?

Museum policy requires that children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

When will I receive my Membership card?

You will receive an email within a week of your Membership purchase that will have a link to download your new digital Membership card.

If it has been over a week, first please check your spam folder for an email from membership@cuseum.com, If you still haven’t found the email, contact us at members@moxi.org or 805.770.5000 ext. 118.

If you have recently renewed or upgraded your Membership, your downloaded card will automatically update.

How do I add my Membership card to my phone?

  • iPhone Users: Access the digital card email from your smartphone. Click the “Download” button below then “Add to Apple Wallet”, then “Add”. Your digital Membership card will automatically download to the Apple Wallet app where it can be accessed in Wallet at any time.
  • Android Users: First, you will need to download Wallet Passes from Google Play. After you have the app, open the digital card email on your smartphone and click the “Download” button in the email. The card will automatically go to the Wallet Passes app, where you can access it at any time.

How do I share a Membership card with a joint Member?

If you are the primary Member, you will receive a separate email for each individual Member. Just forward the appropriate email to the other Members on your Membership.

I do not have a mobile phone, what can I do?

Please present your ID at our front desk when you visit MOXI, we can always look you up.  If you plan to travel and want to use your ASTC benefits at another museum, we have a limited number of physical cards available and can print one for you upon request. Please contact us at members@moxi.org or 805.770.5000 ext. 118 to request a physical card.

Please allow up to two weeks for physical card requests.

There is an error on my Membership card. How can I fix it?

My Membership comes with guest passes, how can I use them?

Guest passes are digital and added to your Membership account under the name of the primary Member. Guest passes expire on the same date as your Membership.

To redeem, let us know when you are checking in at the front desk. To find out how many remaining passes you have, please contact us at members@moxi.org or call 805.770.5000 ext. 118.

Can I use my MOXI Membership to visit other museums free of charge?

MOXI is a part of the ASTC Travel Passport Program, which allows Family Level Members the ability to visit affiliated museums free of charge or at a discounted rate.

The most important thing to remember about this program is that the museum you are trying to visit must be more than 90 miles away (as the crow flies) from both MOXI and your place of residence.

Additionally, you must show your MOXI Membership card – there is no way for another museum to verify your MOXI Membership.

We also advise you to contact the museum you are planning to visit to confirm their hours and admission reservation policies.

I am a Member of another museum that is a part of ASTC, can I come to MOXI for free?

Yes! MOXI will reciprocate admission for up to 2 adults and any children (age 3 – 17) in your household. Please bring your Membership cards and a valid photo ID to receive free admission.

Please note, that the only way to guarantee access for a particular day or time is to make an advance reservation. Please contact members@moxi.org or 805.770.5000 ext. 118 to make a reservation.

How long does my Membership last?

Your Membership is good for one year, and begins on the date of purchase. If you joined online, you can use your Membership immediately by visiting MOXI and showing a photo ID to receive free admission.

How can I purchase a gift Membership for a friend?

  • Gift Membership purchases can be made online, over the phone, or in person at MOXI. When making your online purchase, please remember to check the box that reads “This Membership is a gift.” Gift Memberships are active beginning on the date of purchase. Please allow up to 2 weeks for processing.
  • We also offer gift Membership certificates that can be redeemed by the recipient at a later date (perfect for upcoming birthdays or holidays). Please visit MOXI in person or contact members@moxi.org or 805.770.5000 ext. 118 to purchase a gift Membership certificate.

Is my Membership refundable?
