The Interactive Kinetic Ball Machine

High School Seniors of the Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy
February 08, 2020 – March 14, 2020; April 16, 2021 – May 17, 2021

MOXI and the Dos Pueblos Engineering Academy (DPEA) have created an innovative and impactful partnership with a vision for high school students to design, manufacture, and produce interactive exhibits to be shown at MOXI and beyond. The Interactive Kinetic Ball Machine is the result of an iteration on a preliminary design that DPEA seniors debuted at MOXI as a part of the first Showcase last year. Their 2019 prototype proved to be extremely popular with MOXI guests, and inspired adults and kids alike to invest significant amounts of time and energy in making and testing creative tracks. Seeing this promise, the DPEA students quickly began iterating on their first design – a 4’x8’ sheet of metal on the wall, supplied with a basic set of track parts – to the much more refined and complex exhibit that was displayed at MOXI in early 2020.

Generously supported by Lynda Weinman + Bruce Heavin.
