Climate Change Challenge

Presented by Sonos and generously sponsored by Bank of America, Cox Communications, Schlinger Family Foundation, and Southern California Gas Company.

MOXI challenged the next generation to learn how they could put the practices of scientists and creative thinkers to work to help battle climate change. This engaging series of exhibits and programs took place throughout the museum including a temporary transformation of the Handprint Globe into the Climate Change Globe, Innovation Workshop activities that tackled eco-design and upcycling challenges, the Innovation Wall spotlighting those working to combat the effects of climate change locally, and the SuperArtificial art installation by artist, educator, and advocate, Calder Kamin.

SuperArtificial

MOXI’s Interactive Media Track featured the creative reuse artwork of Calder Kamin and a SuperArtificial makerspace in partnership with Art From Scrap which invited guests to create and add to an upcycled garden filled with vibrantly colored creatures and plants created from plastic waste. Kamin transformed trash into beautifully-crafted creatures, sculpting whimsical installations made entirely from discarded materials. The adjacent SuperArtificial makerspace modeled an enchanted garden from the future and offered guests a chance to add their creations to the menagerie.
