Exposure and Light

Weihao Qiu
October 15, 2017 – January 14, 2018

This digital media installation by artist Weihao Qiu challenged guests to change the way they look at photos and altered their perspective on significant moments in time. Qiu is a creative coder, media artist and freelance photographer with a computer science and Media Arts and Technology background. He conceived “Exposure & Light” as data visualization project representing a curated database of publicly available Flickr photos for a specific 24-hour period. The media installation lead viewers to review the significant dates of exactly when the photos were taken, as well as question how the distributions differ around the world.

What Do Colors Sound Like?

What Do Colors Sound Like?

Westmont grad, Tucker Howard, combines color, sound, and science in a unique art experience. He uses a custom algorithm to turn colors into sound, then uses vibration to shape that sound into visual patterns. Inspired by his ADHD and sensory experiences, the project includes a nine-track album, with each track based on a different color. Available this summer on MOXI’s 2nd floor.
